About Oreo / Mondelēz batch codes

Mondelēz International, the company spun off from Kraft Foods in 2012, owns Oreo, Chips Ahoy, Ritz, Wheat Thins, Triscuit, Nabisco and a long list of other cookie and cracker brands. Every one of them carries a Julian production code stamped on the resealable inner tray or the back of the outer package: four-character YJJJ + a single letter for the plant. A package of Double Stuf Oreos with a 6099R stamp was produced on April 9, 2026 at the Richmond, Virginia plant. Sandwich cookies have a practical shelf-life window of approximately nine months from production, after which the creme filling starts to dry out and the cookie layers lose their snap. Crackers hold up slightly longer (about one year) because they have less fat and no creme. The Julian on the package is the production date and the best-by window has to be added by hand to get the actual expiration date.

This decoder is based on Oreo / Mondelēz's publicly documented code format. Manufacturers can change codes without notice — treat the result as an estimate and check any printed best-by date.
