Common Date-Counting Mistakes
Calendar days vs business days
This calculator counts calendar days, so weekends and holidays are included. If a contract, school, court, or workplace rule says “business days,” check whether weekends, local holidays, and observed holidays should be excluded.
Inclusive vs exclusive counting
Date ranges can be counted two ways. A hotel stay from Monday to Friday is usually 4 nights, but an event that runs Monday through Friday may be described as 5 calendar days. Decide whether the start date itself counts.
Time zones near midnight
“Today” can differ between two places at the same moment. For travel, remote teams, or international deadlines, pair this page with the time zone converter.
Week numbers and reporting periods
If your deadline is described by week number instead of date, use the week number calculator to confirm the Monday-to-Sunday range before counting days.
